MILWAUKEE — Urban News Journal rounded up five free things happening around Milwaukee this week, from a community yoga class to a family movie night — proof, as UNJ founder Marcus Hart put it Monday, that “free doesn’t mean small.”

Tuesday, Aug. 18

  • 10:30–11:30 a.m. — Free Community Yoga. Lindsay Heights, 2240 N. 17th St. All are welcome; no experience necessary.
  • 3:30–6 p.m. — Garden Club at the Native Wellness Garden. 3780 S. 6th St. Community members can plant, harvest, and learn traditional Native gardening practices.

Thursday, Aug. 20

  • 10:15 a.m.–1 p.m. — Hayat Community Wellness Event. Walker Square. Free health screenings, pharmacy consultations, and back-to-school wellness kits.
  • 3–7 p.m. — Endless Summer Block Party. Tiefenthaler Park, hosted by the PEAK Initiative. Free food, live music, and a back-to-school shoe giveaway.
  • ~7:30 p.m., sundown — Family Movie Night. Enderis Park. Free outdoor film; bring a blanket.

“If you are building anything in this city — a business, a following, a movement, whatever it is — these are the rooms and these are the blocks you need to be seen on,” Hart said. “Free means the door is wide open. Walk on through it.”
